(Band Karo Shor, Play Only Kishore Mach Gaya Shor, Har Taraf Hain Kishore) Kishore Kumar had received eight Filmfare awards for playback singing and nomination for many songs too. The special theme for K for Kishore programme was based on those songs that not only won the hearts of millions of audience but also got the highest award of the Hindi film industry. The super six and the challengers brought us some of those memorable award-winning songs. The show had everything from the showbiz-glitz and glamour.
The show started with some video clips that were taken during various shows that Kishore Kumar had attended. We also had some celebrity guests who came to pay their tributes. We had a Rajeshwari and Babul who were all set to make the show a memorable evening. Naegsh Kukunoor was one of the celebrities who paid their tribute to the great singer-performer, while other celebrities like Vidya Balan, Shaan, Konkana, Sukhwinder Singh and Prasoon Joshi were among the others who paid their tribute as well. As the pattern of this week’s show, marks would be given and sealed in envelops to be opened at the end of all the performances, this week’s participants would get to know about their future position in the show only on Saturday.
The first singer of the evening was Apurva. He had been struggling to change his status of being termed as ‘lacking performance’ for over two weeks. He had shown improvement in his last week’s performance and as expected was sure to repeat it today. He sang the most sensuous song Roop Tera Mastana from the movie Aradhana. The song that added the glamour to the acting calibers of Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna and a movie tht was an all time hit. Amit Kumar felt that Apurva was little louder than the show required. Bappi Lahiri and Sudesh Bhonsle felt that he could have sung better.
The next singer to come on stage was Rex De’souza, a Tata Indicom Challenger. He has always been a good performer and has won the audience with his usual charm and lively manners. He chose a song that was so becoming of his spirit that he was literally enjoying that song. He sang Zindagi Ek Safar from the movie Andaaz. The judges enjoyed his performance and they asked Rex that he must use his hidden talent more.
Rex was followed by the judges’ favorite Nayan Rathod. Nayan has been named as Nayan Kumar by Bappi Lahiri. He brought a very sentimental song with him, the song that has made heart full of emotions and eyes brim with unshed tears. He sang Mera Jeevan Kora Kaagaz from the movie Kora Kaagaz. Sudesh Bhonsle was not very impressed by the performance and Amit Kumar felt that there was not enough soul in the song.
Chintan Bakiwala was the next performer to come on stage. He chose a sobre song, that has been the solace for so many fans for over the years. He sang the number Dil Aisa Kisne Mera Toda. His try was loved by all. He has definitely improved a lot through the weeks of practice and hard work. He even got a fan for him sing on the show.
Anil Srivastava was the next participant to come to the stage. He has been termed as the surprise package from Tata Indicom. He sang Aap Ke Anurodh Pe from the movie Anurodh and tried to do his best to sing this difficult song. He was unable to impress the judges and he failed to rise up to the expectation.
The last performer to come in to show his talents is Amanat Ali, a radio Mirchi challenger from Pakistan, who belongs to a great family of singers. He sang the chirpy song for the all time hit movie Don, Khaike Paan Banaraswala. He was able to receive a lot of appreciation from the judges and audience.
With this performance the host bade a farewell to meet on Saturday for another exciting evening.
